Of music, food and love

Shakespeare's quote from Twelfth Night:

"If music be the food of love, play on;
Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die."

Enter "Baekku"sphere:

"If music be the food of love, deafen me;
Give me none of it, that, malnourishing,
The appetite may starve, and so die."

or another one:
"If music be the food of love, I wish I was born deaf".

P.S.:
Is that why, though I have tons of GBs of songs with me, I never listen to any?! :D

he he...good one! :D...but then, I dont think u understood my point in the few-liner...or u r just trying to be funny here! :) Watever is gonna be the food of love, I want to absolutely abstain from it, because, I dont want to nourish that feeling! ;) For that matter, I wish the food of love was paneer pizza and tomato thokku. Because, I can easily abstain from these, as opposed to music, which, even if Iam not playing/listening first hand, Iam forced to passively listen to it, whenever anyone nearby me is playing it or listening to it! ;) Thats in fact the "inspiration" (or the opposite :) ) for this few-liner...the only way I can avoid music is by being deaf...by birth, would have been the most preferrable.

That was a good *twist* to the original quote. However, I don't understand the idea of "...Watever is gonna be the food of love, I want to absolutely abstain from it....". I am not sure what your source of inspiration was, that forced you to come to such a tragic conclusion ! I am not trying to sound dogmatic here, but unfortunately you are going to be deprived of the many "fulfilling" benefits of the food of love !! Though I am speaking from my own taste (by twist of fate), I am sure that there are many that will agree with me. You simply cannot grow beyond a certain level, in all aspects, unless you whet the appetite of boring existence with the food of love. It teaches you to be satisfied with little, and to truly put to practice (and test) the principles of devotion, respect, adoration, humbleness, gratitude and perseverence. But then, the pure food of love should not be ruined with the seasonings of greed, lust, anger, ego etc. otherwise the results are disastrous! It is my humble opinion that it is an important part of the diet of life, that sustains all creation and the living beings in it, that consummates ultimately into salvation. If it were not for the food of love from our Divine parents, we would be eternally starving beings !!!

hey raj...these r my all time fav lines from twelfth night...:)

as soon as i read these lines...i had a big curve in my lips..:D
i liked ur idea for using these lines...ok basically the above comments confused me...as of wat i initially thought u meant..:S

from shakespheare's lines...he asks for more music cuz he is frustrated with his love.he wants excess of music which will cure his obession with love, exact same way how excess eating would remove one's appetite for food.

so far am i on right track..??

so when u said "if music be the food of love, i wish i was born deaf"...
u meant to say...that since u cant avoid or contsrain urself from music..u wished u were born deaf..??

naallu line than ezhidinallum ..eppdi ya vella vaangarathu..pheww...
too much work for my brain...:P

@madhu: Dheivamey! topickka kuzhapittiye!! Seri...edho solre, kaettukurom!

@mystery: he he...un nelamai enakku puriyudhu...apdi kuzhappi irukkan indha madhu! :D

Yes, u r correct. Since being deaf is the only way to avoid listening to music (food of love), I wish i was deaf!

@everyone: Naaley naalu linedhaan poten...adhukku ivlo interpretationsa?! Naan nenachey paakala! :D Btw...pls understand, food of love, as Shakespeare aptly put it, is to nourish the love that is already there!! You guys r talking as if music is giving birth to love! :D Atleast this is wat I understood of Shakespeare's verses! :)
