Enemy on the line!
Its gone! Poyey pochu!! Poyindhi!!! Just a few days back, I posted my so-called "New Year Resolution" tag. "so-called" because I didnt exactly take them as my New year resolutions. Anyways, for what its worth, I was planning to do those things even without having titled them so. But now, the first and the BIGGEST CHALLENGE for me has come already! I gave my weighing scale to someone who wanted to borrow it to check his baggage weight before leaving town (forever) by flight. And it was never returned! And I havent a clue about its whereabouts!! Was it a simple reason that he had forgotten to return it, or is there a bigger plot out there, being made by someone who doesnt want me to follow my resolutions?! Whatever it is, I suspect that there is an enemy watching this line of communication...hmm...so I have to be careful from now on! ssshhh!

Sukku!!! Where art thou? (Galeej Language: Sukku! Enga keera?!!)
For the past few days I have been suffering from a severe sore throat and cold. My sweet voice...kuil pola kural :D ;) :P, has gone for a full-toss now! Eaaaaarly in the morning today, when I was still banging my head with my research work (one of the several night-outs these days), I suddenly thought of Sukku (Sukku Kaapi, neenga edha pathi nenacheenga? ;) :D)!! Cha, how I miss it in these times! :) Sukku is a type of dried ginger for those who dont know and Kaapi is...well, coffee! :D And ah! during these days of sickness, all those amma-made milagu-jeera (pepper-jeera) rasam/veppam poo rasam, poricha kootu (no idea how to transl(iter)ate this! :D), the ginger chai, and of course amma and appa's warmth and care!! *sighhhh*...err, i mean, *sniff* *sniff* *cough* *cough*!

New Year resolution tag!
Finally...even I have fallen victim to the tag culture! Ponnarasi tagged me (not exactly...there was a comedy there...but am leaving it at that! :D) for New Year resolutions. Thanks PK for taking the effort! ;) :P Actually, I hadnt taken any New Year resolutions, but I did have some plans for this year. Here are some of those:
1. Reduce weight and lose the tummy! :D
2. Get back to solving crosswords and be regular with them (atleast do this for The Hindu Crossword)
3. Take up one of the severallllll hobbies that I have and pursue it (whichever is feasible in the place that Iam gonna move for work)
5. End of year, dont give a report to the bloggers about the progress in the above! :D...esp. no. 1 ;)
And...since its almost a week past the New year day, I dont think Iam gonna tag any more people for this, otherwise, they might end up thinking Iam tagging them in advance for the next year! :D

Little Stars on Earth - Every child is special
Hope you guys had fun this New Year day! As for me, I was planning to sit and work the whole day, but my roomie who was vetti ("velle"/jobless for any of my non-tamil speaking friends who might read this), because he had a holiday today, pulled me out and forced me to come with him for a movie (I had given him this idea a week ago, when I was under the impression that I wud be free today! :D). So we went to Portland (which is about 90 miles from my "village" and is the ONLY place in the whole of Oregon state where they screen desi movies and that too, occasionally) to watch the movie "Taare Zameen Par".
This movie was produced and directed by Aamir Khan and I had heard that it was a hit in India. I did have a bit of anticipation when I went to watch it. But I got much more than I had expected! This is a very very lovely and a very very beautiful movie! It is a story about a dyslexic child, how his parents dont realise his condition and how Aamir Khan later helps the kid overcome this problem. I have done sooo much injustice in describing the story in one line, but I wanna leave it that way, and let u guys watch it and enjoy it thoroughly!
Right from the opening credits, till the last shot, this movie has been very beautifully taken. Every person who has acted in this movie has done a wonderful job of it. The place where the boarding school is located in the movie is also very scenic! Aamir has done a splendid job of capturing and portraying the emotions of each character in the movie. Even the feelings/emotions of the dyslexic child, which are mostly non-verbal, has been portrayed beautifully (often times with the help of cartoon/animation). Iam sure he and his crew must have done a lot of background work to understand how these children feel and what kind of emotions they go through, before taking this picture. The movie was so emotional that I found myself in tears on more than one occasion...about 3 times in the last 5 minutes itself!! (Nah...am not a hyper-sensitive guy :D).
I sincerely recommend all of you to go and watch this movie in theaters (that way the effect wud be far far better than watching it on a DVD). The movie was screened in the theater with English sub-title (very nice translation), so I expect the same everywhere in US and other countries atleast outside India. So, even those of you who dont understand Hindi can (and must) go and watch it.
The official website for this movie is www.taarezameenpar.com (the site opens with some background music, so you might want to **MUTE your computer speakers**, before visiting the site), which is also the source for the above poster.
